By Executive Director, Derek DeWitt
Although Valentine’s Day has become a very commercialized holiday, I have always liked the reminder to “spread the love.” As it relates to my work as Executive Director of Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford and Cecil Counties, I reflect this week on how fortunate I am to work for an organization I’m passionate about.
I’ve been working with the Clubs for more than X years. Why so long? I go to work every day loving witnessing the impact we’re having on kids – on their lives today, and their dreams for tomorrow. Currently, we’re preparing for our Youth Celebration Dinner in Harford County taking place on April 5. This is a new event for us, and its focus is on the amazing youth in our community we serve.
As we prepare to pick our 2018 “Youth of the Year,” I’m struck by how difficult it will be! I’m excited to witness our kids publicly share their stories at the Youth Celebration Dinner, and even more excited to watch them evolve into tomorrow’s future leaders. We’ll also have alumni at the event who can attest to the lifelong impact the Clubs had on their personal journeys.
I hope you’ll join me at our new event. If you’d like to attend, or if your company would like to get involved, visit http://bgcharfordcecil.org/event/ycd2018/.
