On Wednesday, October 7, 2020, Governor Larry Hogan announced $3.4 million in Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (BJAG) awards to support local crime reduction efforts in Maryland. The $1.7 million allocated to the Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs will support evidence-based and evidence-informed youth development programs.
The Maryland Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs includes the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Countries, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Baltimore, Boys & Girls Club of Westminster, Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County, Boys & Girls Club of Washington County , and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maryland.
The funding will also support expanded services, including virtual and mobile programming. Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford & Cecil Counties launched it’s new Club on the Go Program this fall, bringing Club buses and vans into the communities we serve to provide meals, on-demand programming, and fun for our youth. Funding will enable our Clubs to continue providing the new initiative and expand our reach; placing us in more communities, reaching more youth!
